Iberdrola launches a self-consumption campaign to promote energy and financial savings in homes
- The company has made the self-consumption solution available to any type of home, whether or not it has its own roof or not.
- Iberdrola, which was the first energy company to offer self-consumption solutions, leads this market in Spain and already manages 40% of the installations.
- Iberdrola's self-consumers will be able to use the surpluses generated in their primary residence to supply their second home.
Iberdrola has launched a new advertising campaign to promote photovoltaic self-consumption in Spanish homes. Under the slogan "Whatever home you have, the sun is yours", the company wants to publicise the solutions available for each type of home, through Smart Solar.
The company, a pioneer in the offer of self-consumption for customers with single-family homes, has adapted to different needs to make solar self-consumption available to all its customers. This modality can lead to savings of up to 70% on electricity bills.
Iberdrola's integral Smart Solar solution allows a turnkey installation without the need for an initial investment. It also makes it possible to monitor the operation of the installation and its consumption via a mobile app. Smart Solar customers can also benefit from the energy they do not consume, as well as from the different subsidies and grants available.
Currently, more than two thirds of the population in Spain lives in high-rise buildings, which is why the energy company offers collective self-consumption solutions that include the possibility of ceding the roof space to Iberdrola so that it can take on the installation of the photovoltaic system, facilitating access to the 'green energy' generated to the people living in the vicinity.
As for the possibility of compensating the energy dumped into the grid, Iberdrola customers do not have any type of floor for its valuation, so that their bill can be as low as zero euros. In addition, this campaign incorporates the novelty that in the event that there are still surpluses, Iberdrola self-consumers will be able to use them in a second home.
150% increase so far this year
Iberdrola has consolidated its position as the benchmark company in self-consumption with a 150% increase in its portfolio so far this year. The company currently leads the photovoltaic self-consumption market in Spain, managing 40% of the country's self-consumption customers.
In 2015, the company became the first company in its sector to integrate self-consumption solutions into its range of services. Iberdrola remains committed to continuing to be a driver in the coming years of this technology which, in addition to reducing energy bills, protects against potential variations in energy prices, enables its use even at night (with the installation of a battery storage system) and allows the generation of energy free of CO2 emissions.
In this regard, the company aims to maintain its current leadership share in this market in the coming years, in which it expects to exceed even the high penetration scenario described in the Spanish Government's Roadmap for Self-consumption and reach 14,000 MW of installed self-consumption by 2030.
The development of smart solutions is one of the strategic lines of the Iberdrola group, which expects to reach 40 million contracts with customers worldwide by 2025 with services such as energy storage, heat pumps and electric mobility, as well as self-consumption.
