Energías Ecológicas de Tenerife (EET) and ITER sign an operation and maintenance contract for Abona Substation

  • The purpose of the operation and maintenance contract of the TS is to provide by EET and in favor of ITER the operation and maintenance services of the elements of the substation owned by ITER.
  • With this project, EET, a company owned by Iberdrola Renovables Energía ("Iberdrola") and Inversiones Financieras Isla de Tenerife ("IFIT"), reinforces its commitment to the Canary Islands and is committed to the development of renewable energies in the archipelago in order to continue contributing to the energy transition.

Energías Ecológicas de Tenerife, S.A. (EET), and the Instituto Tecnológico de Energías Renovables (ITER), have signed a contract by which EET will operate and maintain during the next 5 years the proprietary elements of ITER in the Abona 66 kV substation, located in the municipality of Granadilla, located in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona and through which the Chimiche II wind farmsEnlace externo, se abre en ventana nueva. , owned by EET and the ones owned by ITER called Complejo Ambiental Arico, La Roca and Areté, with a total of 71.6 MW of power, discharge energy to the electricity transmission network of the island of Tenerife.

ITER and EET have agreed to sign this contract to ensure the proper operation of this substation in the future, thus guaranteeing the correct operation of the wind farms and the stability of the island's electricity transmission grid.

With the signing of this agreement, both companies reinforce their commitment to the development and correct integration of renewable energy sources on the island, thus contributing to the Canary Islands Government's objective of achieving full decarbonizationEnlace externo, se abre en ventana nueva.  of the Canary Islands economy by 2040.

Energías Ecológicas de Tenerife is a company owned by Iberdrola and Inversiones Financieras de la Isla de Tenerife.

Iberdrola is the leading producer of electricity from renewable sources in Spain, with an installed photovoltaic and wind power capacity of 8,800 megawatts (MW) in the country. In the world, Iberdrola's renewable installed capacity is more than 29,000 MW, which makes its generation park one of the cleanest in the energy sector.

Inversiones Financieras de la Isla de Tenerife, in turn, is made up of 698 small local investors, who join together to reinvest in the development of clean energy generation systems in the Canary Islands.

ITER is a research center of international reference in renewable energies, engineering, telecommunications, environment and genomics, created in 1990 and promoted by the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, with the aim of promoting sustainable development and innovation on the island of Tenerife.
