Iberdrola España signs an €882 million contract with the Andalusian Regional Government to supply 100% renewable energy
- The Regional Ministers of Economy and Industry, Carolina España and Jorge Paradela, presented the agreement, together with Iberdrola España's delegate, Antonio Fernández, for the supply of energy to all regional government offices.
Iberdrola España and the Regional Government of Andalusia have presented the new contract for the electricity supply of Red de Energía de la Junta de Andalucía (REDEJA). The company will provide the regional government with green energy from 100% renewable sources for the next twenty-five months, with the possibility of extending the contract for up to two more years. The estimated value of the award is €882,951,405.
The presentation of the agreement took place at the headquarters of the Andalusian Regional Government's Department of Economy, Finance and European Funds in the presence of its head, Carolina España, and the Regional Minister for Industry, Energy and Mines, Jorge Paradela. It is estimated that, based on the consumption associated with the year 2022, around one million MWh/year will be supplied.
For Iberdrola España's delegate in Andalusia, Antonio Fernández, "the company's commitment to electrification and the green economy in Andalusia, where we will triple the number of renewable energy facilities in five years, with an investment plan of €1.5 billion, is a sign of guarantee and confidence. We are the leading wind power developer in Andalusia, and we have an installed renewable capacity of 1,000 MW", he said.
On the other hand, we are going to help the Andalusian Regional Government in energy saving and efficiency through the implementation of photovoltaic self-consumptionExternal link, opens in new window. installations in different buildings. We will also carry out feasibility studies for this type of installation in these and other buildings. In this regard, it should be noted that Iberdrola España is a leader in the management of self-consumption facilities at national level, both in the domestic and industrial sectors.
We will also help the Andalusian Regional Government in its plan to optimise its electricity bill by generating reports that will enable it to optimise the contracted power and reduce the excess reactive energy in its 5,200 supply points.
Finally, it should be noted that both Iberdrola España and the Regional Government of Andalusia are pursuing emission reduction targets to combat climate change, and this framework agreement also makes this possible. There are other actions that we have already carried out and others that we continue to carry out, such as installing charging points for electric vehicles in different buildings of the Regional Government.
