-
Representatives of the regional government and business associations related to the mobility of goods and distribution, such as Disfrimur, Estrella de Levante, Primafrio and Consum, among others, are taking part.
The Murcia Chamber of Commerce and Iberdrola España have organised the conference 'Electrification of heavy transport', in which the different existing solutions for reducing emissions in the sector have been discussed.
The event was attended by officials from the public administration, transport companies, distribution companies, specialists in the electricity sector and decarbonisation, as well as transport associations.
The opening of the conference, which was held at the headquarters of the Murcia Chamber of Commerce, was led by the president of the entity, Miguel López Abad; the director general of Mobility and Transport of the Region, María Dolores Solana; and the institutional delegate of Iberdrola España in the Community, Miguel Ángel Cerdán. The Director General of Energy, Industrial and Mining Activity of the Region, Federico Miralles, was in charge of closing the event.
In his welcoming remarks, López Abad stressed "the strategic importance and the structuring role of the transport sector due to its direct influence on other economic activities, such as industry and tourism. The challenge facing our companies, with the 2050 horizon, is considerable, because the decarbonisation we are seeking must be sustainable from an environmental, but also economic and social point of view".
For his part, Miguel Ángel Cerdán stressed that more and more companies "are asking logistics operators for more sustainable transport, which is why it is necessary to work together to decarbonise through the electrification of the sector. We are facing not only a climatic issue, but also an economic, industrial and technological opportunity that we must take advantage of in order to be self-sufficient in terms of energy thanks to indigenous renewable generation, which allows us to have competitive and stable energy costs over time".

Boosting decarbonisation
Iberdrola España, which has been leading the energy transition for two decades, acting as a key driving force in the transformation of the industrial fabric, the economy and employment, offers itself as a strategic ally to corporations and companies to help them reduce their carbon footprint.
As part of its commitment to sustainability and the environment, and as an effective way to combat climate change, Iberdrola España promotes and leads the transition towards sustainable mobility and the electrification of transport.
The mobility plan, launched by the company in 2016, was a pioneer in its implementation. Today, its strategy envisages the installation of more than 100,000 recharging points by 2025, including public recharging points, residential, companies and car parks.
To this end, its public infrastructure design is being developed both on highways and corridors and in cities and small towns with the aim of having at least one fast charging station every 50 km or less.
All of them are available on Iberdrola España's Public Charging App, the most highly rated in the sector, where you can view and geolocate verified information on all chargers, check their operation in real time and reserve and pay from your mobile phone.
