The Mayor of Valladolid visits the Iberdrola stand at Feria de Valladolid.
Iberdrola España has chosen the city of Valladolid to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable mobility at the third edition of the Hybrid and Electric Car Show being held until Sunday at the Feria de Valladolid. This is an essential event for electric mobility, where the Company, once again, reaffirms its commitment to more eco-friendly transport habits.
The company is aware of the need to promote electromobility in Spain through coordinated and effective action with the main agents involved.
It has more than 6,500 public charging points and is doubling its charging infrastructure compared to 2022. All these points are powered by 100% green energy, from renewable sources with a guarantee of origin certificate (GdOs). In total, Iberdrola España's public and private network reaches 50,000 points and thus reinforces its leading position as the most extensive public charging network in Spain.
Iberdrola España will continue to contribute to the decarbonisation of the economy through mobility with the goal of reaching 100,000 points by 2025.
In addition to these points operated by Iberdrola España, a high-power charging network will be added as a result of its alliance with bp, formed in 2023 to promote fast and ultra-fast charging in Spain and Portugal. Its plans include the investment of 1 billion euros to create the most extensive fast and ultra-fast public charging network on the peninsula, with 11,700 points by 2030.
The company is thus making progress in its plan to deploy sustainable mobility infrastructure in Castilla y León, where it has more than 700 public charging stations in service in all provinces. Iberdrola España | bp pulse continues to grow with projects in different municipalities in the region on high-capacity roads, service stations and urban environments and already has 54 operational points of more than 100kW.
The delegate of Iberdrola España in Castilla y León, Miguel Calvo, stressed that ‘we continue to make progress in decarbonisation and energy self-sufficiency through the electrification of two key sectors of our economy, transport and industry. The scale of this challenge requires public-private partnerships, which have the technology and knowledge necessary to accelerate the well-being of citizens and contribute to developing more sustainable cities’.
Through the Recarga Pública Iberdrola España App, the most highly rated in the sector, it is possible to view and geolocate verified information on all chargers, check their operation in real time and book and pay from a mobile phone.
In order to achieve more sustainable spaces, Iberdrola España is also committed to the electrification of freight and passenger transport, with specific charging points for trucks and buses.
Key player in the decarbonisation of urban passenger transport
Last year, Iberdrola España launched the electrification project in the city of Valladolid that provides the municipal public transport company's facilities in Bronce Street, in the Argales industrial estate, with the necessary infrastructure to charge up to 11 electric buses simultaneously at night. The installation can deliver up to 1.1 megawatts (MW) distributed by the 11 Jema Energy charging equipment of 100 kilowatts (kW) each.
This is the first infrastructure of its kind that the company has implemented in Spain, making it a key player in the decarbonisation of urban passenger transport in the city of Valladolid.
These vehicles, with their modern and innovative design, recharge their batteries with 100% green energy supplied by Iberdrola España from renewable sources.
This pioneering urban bus electrification project in Spain has been carried out thanks to the Moves Singulares II Programme. This is a programme of incentives for unique projects in electric mobility within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan to promote the transformation of the economy towards a more sustainable, resilient, inclusive and competitive model, as well as to intensify activity and create new public-private partnerships.
