This is the second edition of this festival, after the great success of 2023.
The of Torrecillas de la Tiesa (Cáceres), Valcarlos (Navarra), Valle de Tobalina (Burgos), Campoo de Yuso (Cantabria) and Luintra (Ourense) host, between July 29 and August 3, the summer micro-cinema festival "Un pueblo de cine", organised by the platform to halt rural depopulation 'Vente a Vivir a un Pueblo' ('Come live in a village') and Iberdrola España.
This initiative seeks to highlight the quality of life in the small towns of our country vs. the macro-events that are organised in other places. The festival showcases a selection of micro-cinema video productions, each less than a minute long, which were awarded prizes in various competitions on sustainability organised by Cultura Inquieta. This is the second edition of this festival, thanks to the great welcome it received last year.
Iberdrola España is collaborating in this cultural action given its historical ties to the rural world, where the company has its roots and where it is currently developing important renewable energy projects that drive growth and employment, helping to prevent rural depopulation.
Summer Micro-cinema Festival 2024
Torrecillas de la Tiesa (Cáceres)
On July 29 was held in the municipality of Torrecillas de la Tiesa, Cáceres, the opening of the summer micro-cinema festival “Un pueblo de cine”. The event took place in the Town Hall Square in Torrecillas de la Tiesa and was attended by over 300 people, including local residents and summer holidaymakers, who were offered popcorn and refreshments, as befits a good film session.
Iberdrola España has significant energy facilities in Extremadura, with almost 5,700 MW installed at present, some 4,590 of which are renewable. Hydroelectric facilities account for 2,043 MW and photovoltaic facilities for 2,544 MW. Iberdrola España also carries out various initiatives to support communities and protect biodiversity, prioritising integration with livestock farming, agriculture, and the natural environment.
Valcarlos (Navarra)
The event took place in the Plaza Santiago of the Navarre municipality and was attended by more than 100 people, including local residents and visitors to the area, who were treated to popcorn and refreshments, as befits a good movie session.
i-DE, the distributor of the Iberdrola group in Spain, has recently installed in Valcarlos a storage battery connected to the distribution network capable of supplying electricity to the village in case of power shortages caused by meteorological storms.
Valcarlos, with 300 inhabitants, is one of the most depopulated areas of the Navarre Pyrenees and is exposed to heavy snowfalls and a complicated orography that makes access to the village difficult, has thus become an example of innovation with a microgrid capable of supplying electricity in an isolated, self-sufficient, local and sustainable way to its inhabitants. Thus, from a storage battery and renewable energy, the village will always have electricity, even when anomalies or outages caused by severe weather phenomena are detected.
Valle de Tobalina (Burgos)
The event took place in the Plaza Mayor and was attended by more than a hundred people, including neighbors and vacationers from the area, who were treated to popcorn and refreshments, as befits a good movie session.
For its part, Iberdrola España reaffirms its innovative and renewable leadership in Castilla y León, which is consolidating its position as a relevant center for clean energy developments in the company's investment cycle to 2025, where it already operates close to 6,000 MW, making it the autonomous community with the most 'green' megawatts installed by the company. In addition, it promotes renewable energies as an engine for rural development and in this way the towns emerge as a guarantee for the future, contributing to a sustainable recovery, allowing the creation of local employment.
Campoo de Yuso (Cantabria)
The event took place in Lanchares and was attended by more than a hundred people, including local residents and visitors to the area, who were treated to popcorn and refreshments, as befits a good movie session.
For its part, Iberdrola España is present in Cantabria with the El Escudo wind farm, which has just been given the green light for the installation of the renewable energy infrastructure, after the developer Biocantaber received the administrative construction authorization (AAc). The facility, which will have a capacity of 101 MW, will generate renewable energy equivalent to the annual consumption.
Luintra (Ourense)
The event took place in the town hall square of Luintra and was attended by more than 200 people, including neighbors and vacationers and vacationers from the area, who were invited to enjoy popcorn and refreshments, as is refreshments, as befits a good movie session.
The Santo Estevo hydroelectric power station is located in the vicinity of Luintra. Owned by Iberdrola Spain, it is located in the basin of the river Sil. After the completion of the Santo Estevo II completion of the Santo Estevo II plant, the power plant became the largest hydroelectric complex in Galicia with a total installed capacity of 451 MW. It is also a pioneer in the region by producing hydroelectric power equivalent to the average annual consumption of more than 600,000 people, almost twice the population of the province of Ourense.
In addition, Ourense is the Galician province where Iberdrola España operates the largest number of wind farms: Nogueira (3 MW), Vieiro (20 MW), Pena da Cruz (23 MW),
Serra do Burgo (27 MW), Sil (49 MW), Sil Ampliación (40 MW) and Serra do Larouco (42 MW). The total capacity of all the facilities is 204 MW.
