With the electrification of the market, Iberdrola promotes cleaner air in the capital.
Iberdrola España is joining in the anniversary celebration of the Plaza Mayor Christmas market by providing it with green energy, thus making the popular space in Madrid the first sustainable market in the country.
This was announced by Laura Gil, the company's head of sponsorship: “The electrification of this special place with green energy is very important to us. Not only because with it we manage to make this space sustainable, but also because in some way it links us, on an anniversary as important as this one, to a market that we all treasure fondly in our memories. Surely we have grown up visiting it year after year with our loved ones on these important dates, or simply, we recognize it as a luxurious setting for films as endearing as La gran familia”.
The traditional market will be held in the capital until December 31 and expects the visit of nearly one million people from inside and outside our borders.
With its 104 booths selling items related to the celebration of Christmas, this year the market adds a recreational area set up by Iberdrola Spain so that anyone who wishes can take a very special photo as a souvenir. As icing on the cake, the company, in collaboration with the Association of Nativity Scene Makers of Madrid, has installed a handcrafted Nativity Scene portal.
For Gil, “the electrification of the market avoids the emission of greenhouse gases and helps Madrid breathe cleaner air”. “We hope that many Madrilenians and visitors to the city will come to enjoy this wonderful place of meeting and celebration,” he said.
