AEDAS Homes and Iberdrola España, as part of their commitment to electrifying new-build housing to increase independence from fossil fuels and make the economy more efficient, will install self-consumption in a new housing development. The companies have now worked together on more than ten developments since 2022, when they sealed the first partnership between a developer and an electricity company in Spain.

The new development will have 56 homes and will be located in the Madrid city of Alcalá de Henares. With this new initiative, the companies also aim to promote the consumption of local renewable energy, free of CO2 emissions, which in turn means reducing the energy bill for buyers.

The AEDAS Homes and Iberdrola España partnership is one step ahead of the technical code regulations, offering customers who wished to do so self-consumption before it becomes an obligation. Now, in addition to complying with the regulations, Iberdrola España provides advice and tailor-made solutions, including registration as a self-consumer and surplus management. The energy company also takes care of paperwork associated with the installation and subsidies.

“We are very proud to contribute, together with AEDAS Homes, to the electrification and integration of new solutions in a sector that is so essential for our society.”
Luis Buil
Director of Smart Solutions at Iberdrola España

‘We are very proud to work with a partner like Iberdrola España, which helps us to continue building a more energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly residential development model’, says Alberto Delgado, General Business Director of AEDAS Homes, who reminds us that this initiative is another step in the ambitious challenge of decarbonising the residential real estate sector.

AEDAS Homes is a key partner in further advancing energy independence and improving the efficiency and responsible use of energy. The best energy is energy that you don’t consumed, not only because of the savings for customers, but also for the benefit of the planet. We are very proud to contribute, together with AEDAS Homes, to the electrification and integration of new solutions in a sector that is so essential for our society ‘, says Luis Buil, Director of Smart Solutions at Iberdrola España.

Environmental and economic benefit

The installation of self-consumption photovoltaic panels in homes translates into a double benefit: environmental and economic. Firstly, the electricity they produce is 100% renewable, free of CO2 emissions and totally environmentally friendly. And, secondly, it is free, so it satisfies the electricity demand of homes and electric vehicles, significantly reducing homeowners' energy bills.
