The Fundación Iberdrola España and the Prado Museum have launched the Fundación Iberdrola España - Prado Museum Training and Research in Restoration Scholarships, within the framework of the agreements signed between the two entities through which the Foundation became a benefactor member of the Museum.
The purpose of these scholarships is to complete the training of future specialists and promote research in the restoration field. During their twelve month duration, the scholarship holders will participate in conservation-restoration processes of the works in the Prado collection, collaborate in producing reports and participate in tasks for the organisation of temporary exhibitions.
This scholarship programme is completed with the Fundación Iberdrola España - Prado Museum Training and Research in Restoration International Scholarship for young people with degrees and diplomas in Universities/Restoration Schools based in Mexico, whose recipient will shortly join for a period of twelve months and receive a total amount of €19,500.
This new agreement will make it possible to extend the 33 scholarships awarded over the last 11 years.

About Fundación Iberdrola España
Since 2010, the foundation has been a protector member of the Restoration programme of the Prado Museum, supporting the Prado Museum's restoration workshop with three annual training and research scholarships for specialists in art heritage conservation and restoration.
Apart from the Prado Museum, the Fundación Iberdrola España also collaborates with the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum to award scholarships that contribute to training and research in the field of the conservation and restoration of works of art.
These grants form part of its Scholarship Programme, which also covers scholarships for energy and environment masters courses in universities in Spain, United Kingdom and the United States, and research grants in Spain. It also has agreements with other institutions, such as the Fundación Carolina and the Fulbright Commission.
With Ignacio Galán as founding trustee and Fernando García as chairman, the Fundación Iberdrola España focuses its activity on four major areas: training and research, biodiversity and climate change, social action and international cooperation.
The Fundación Iberdrola España has also allocated, since 2011, a total of 13 million euros to the Art and Culture area. This area directs most of its resources to the Restorations Programme, which supports the restoration workshops of the museums in question for the conservation of their pictorial and artistic heritage; and the Lighting Programme, which covers the design, execution and financing of artistic lighting projects in singular buildings and monuments, in particular the lighting the prado project, which aims to equip the exhibition rooms of this museum, both those that host the permanent collection and those that contain temporary exhibitions, with a new lighting system with LED technology to replace the previous system based on halogen lamps.
