Iberdrola España, committed to women's sport

At Iberdrola España, we have been involved for years in promoting women's sport as a way to foster equality and recognition of the role of women, both in sport and in society.

The Iberdrola Group, of which we form part, has been promoting its commitment to equality through sport since 2016. Since then, its involvement in women's sportEnlace externo, se abre en ventana nueva.  has grown every year and there are already dozens of federations that it supports in more than a hundred competitions, many of them Iberdrola leagues.

In 2016, Iberdrola España became the main promoter of the Universo MujerEnlace externo, se abre en ventana nueva.  (Women Universe) programme of the National Sports Council (CSD), which aims to promote and develop women's sport as an instrument for recognising the important role of women, both in sport and in society as a whole.

Thanks to this alliance, the number of female members in the disciplines supported by the company has increased by more than 40%, also helping them to equip themselves with the necessary infrastructures. Along the same lines, the Iberdrola Supera Awards, which since 2020 have sought to recognise and give visibility to the best initiatives implemented in Spain in favour of equality and the empowerment of women through sport.

The company also has a strong commitment to Olympic and Paralympic athletes, and has sponsored the Spanish Paralympic team through the Paralympic Objective Sports Support Plan (ADOP) since its creation in 2005.

Iberdrola España and women's soccer

deporte femenino

As part of our commitment to women's sports in Spain, we have been supporting women's soccer since 2016. We are the sponsors of the main club competition and main partner-sponsor of the national women's soccer team, as well as the U-19 and U-17 national teams, the Copa de la Reina and the Supercopa Iberdrola.

Within our ambassador program, we count on the key role of important players, such as Alexia Putellas and Irene Paredes, to continue paving the way for women's soccer to finally get the recognition it deserves.

In these years of supporting women's football in Spain, the national team has won multiple international tournaments at youth level. However, the great moment for women's football came in 2023, when the senior national team managed to beat England in the World Cup final to become world champions.

Boosting sport in Spain

The commitment to sport of the Iberdrola Group, of which Iberdrola España forms part, is part of its DNA. We see sport as another tool to reinforce our commitment to society: this is demonstrated by our actions to promote and support sporting activity in our country.

In line with our commitment, we support women athletes on their way to the Olympic Games: our Idols, because they excel every day; and because with their passion and determination they are a reference for future generations.

At Iberdrola España, we support all sportswomen in Paris with our best energy.
