Gisela Pulido, Iberdrola's Spanish ambassador and ten-time world champion, kitesurfs in one of the largest offshore wind farms in Europe
Iberdrola's Spanish ambassador and ten-time world kitesurfing champion Gisela Pulido is clear: "If there's wind, I don't contemplate not going to the water". That's why she has gone to one of the largest offshore wind farms in Europe, East Anglia One, in the UK, with its 102 windmills, covering an area of 300km2.
More than 50km from the port of Lowestoft, from where the expedition departed, East Anglia One was the ideal setting for such a special sailing. Gisela was in the open sea, alone with the windmills, her kite, her board, and only one energy, the wind. Gisela emphasized the magnitude of the park, feeling "super tiny next to the gigantic windmills (167 meters high), in the middle of the sea". It was also a new experience for the East Anglia One team. Used to working in demanding conditions and with an extremely rigorous safety protocol, they had the opportunity to work with a female kitesurfer for the first time.
The Iberdrola ambassador is now preparing for Spain's Olympic qualification in Formula Kite, a speed kitesurfing discipline, where she will have the next chance to win an Olympic spot at the European Championships in Portsmouth, UK.
