ALIA, the Logistics Cluster of Aragon, and Iberdrola España have organised the conference 'Trends in the electrification of long distance and last mile heavy transport', in which the different existing solutions for the reduction of emissions in the sector have been discussed.

The opening of the conference was attended by the Mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca; the Regional Minister for Development, Housing, Mobility and Logistics of the Government of Aragon, Octavio López; the manager of the Logistics Cluster of Aragon, Ángel Gil; and Iberdrola España's Institutional Delegate in the region, Alfredo del Tiempo, who stressed the need to "collaborate with the different actors in the sector to offer them the tools we have to support them in their decarbonisation process".

The Secretary General for Transport and Mobility of the Ministry, María José Rallo, gave a presentation on current and future trends in the electrification of the sector, followed by a round table discussion on different success stories, moderated by Jesús López, from Smart Mobility at Iberdrola España, with the participation of representatives from Disfrimur, Volvo, the Directorate General for Transport of the Government of Aragon and BSH.

The day concluded with a round table of sector agents in which the different perspectives on the future of the electrification of road transport were discussed, with the participation of representatives from Redur, Loalco Green, Grupo Carreras and Trucksters. The president of the Logistics Cluster, Eduardo Corella, was in charge of closing the conference and highlighted the sector's "ongoing commitment to promoting sustainability in mobility and transport".

Boosting decarbonisation

Iberdrola España, which has been leading the energy transition for two decades acting as a key driving force in the transformation of the industrial fabric, the economy and employment, offers itself as a strategic ally to corporations and companies to help them reduce their carbon footprint.

The company, aware of the need to promote electromobility in Spain through coordinated and effective action with the main agents involved, has already completed more than 60 infrastructure deployment agreements with administrations, institutions, companies, service stations, dealers and electric vehicle manufacturers.

One of the latest is the agreement signed between Iberdrola España and the Business Association for the Development and Promotion of Electric Mobility (AEDIVE) for the creation of the alliance for the electrification of heavy road transport in Spain. The initiative aims to accelerate the decarbonisation of heavy road transport and combat climate change. At the same time, it aims to improve fuel efficiency, limit high fuel consumption, and reduce the cost for logistics operators and the country.

Promoting Sustainable Innovation

ALIA, the Logistics Cluster of Aragon is at the forefront of promoting sustainable innovation in the logistics sector. As a strategic ally, ALIA works closely with companies and organisations to accelerate the adoption of innovative practices and technologies that drive sustainability and efficiency in mobility and transport in Aragon.

Through the promotion of practices, innovative technologies and the implementation of projects, ALIA seeks to reduce carbon emissions in logistics. By encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles, renewable energy and efficient management systems, ALIA drives the transformation towards cleaner and more environmentally friendly mobility.
