The Green Tide against cancer returns to the streets of Murcia promoted by Iberdrola España
- More than 4,000 participants took part in this charitable cause, supported by Iberdrola España for the eighth consecutive year.
The Spanish Association Against Cancer in Murcia has held its traditional 'Murcia March Against Cancer' with the main sponsorship of Iberdrola España. The aim of this year's march, which was attended by more than 4,000 participants, was to raise funds for the cancer research being carried out by Anna Visa, who is studying the anti-tumour effect of our immune system thanks to a postdoctoral grant from the Association of €160,000 over four years.
At the start, the march was attended by Juan José Pedreño, Regional Minister of Health of the Region of Murcia; Miguel Ángel Cerdán, Iberdrola España's Institutional Delegate in the Region; Manuel Molina Boix, President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the Region of Murcia; and the beneficiary of the march herself, Dr. Anna Visa, a researcher at the Institute of Biomedical Research of Lleida with a grant from the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the Region of Murcia.
The walk started once again this year at the Puente de Hierro, next to Ronda Garay, and the participants made the route running (10 kilometres or 5 kilometres) or walking (5 kilometres). At the end, they were able to enjoy the recreational area, the information stands and a large healthy refreshment area with products from the Region of Murcia.

Research
Dr. Anna Visa Pretel, researcher at the Institut de Recera Biomèdica de Lleida, studied a degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Lleida (2011-2015), where she also completed a master's degree in Biomedical Research (2015-2016). She was awarded a postdoctoral grant from the Provincial Headquarters of the Region of Murcia in 2022 of €160,000 over 4 years.
In her study, Dr Visa aims to study the consequences of inhibiting or eliminating the Cav3.1 protein in different contexts (patients) in order to define personalised strategies: to study the involvement of the immune system in order to enhance its antitumour effect and to validate the relevance of this protein.
