ALIA, the Logistics Cluster of Aragon, and Iberdrola España have organised the conference 'Towards sustainable mobility - Living with the urban environment', in collaboration with the Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC), which aims to promote dialogue between the different actors in the urban mobility sector, addressing current challenges and opportunities.
José Miguel Rodrigo, Councillor for Mobility, Housing, Infrastructures and Water Cycle of Zaragoza City Council, Miguel Ángel Anía, Director General of Transport of the Government of Aragon, Susana Val, Director of ZLC, Ángel Gil, Manager of ALIA, and Alfredo del Tiempo, Iberdrola España's Institutional Delegate in Aragon, took part in the opening of the conference.
Alfredo del Tiempo stressed that decarbonising the economy "implies replacing polluting energies with clean energies, which is why urban mobility will continue to electrify and become the most efficient emissions-free solution, both in environmental and economic terms".
Ángel Gil, Manager of ALIA, emphasised that "sustainable urban mobility is one of the great challenges facing cities and one of the priorities of our cluster" and explained the different initiatives set up within the group, such as the ALIA Living Lab, the benchmark forum that will be held again on 27 November in Zaragoza.
Gil also gave a presentation on loading and unloading zones, in which he stressed the importance of technology to efficiently manage these zones and ensure the effective coexistence of all agents, such as IoT technologies and artificial intelligence, as well as the need for "these loading and unloading zones, which are now static spaces, to adapt to different times of the year and the realities of each urban area".
The panel of experts discussed the challenges and opportunities in urban mobility and included the participation of Laura López, head of Smart Mobility at Iberdrola España, Marc de Bofarull, DPO at YEGO, Javier Zueras, Maintenance Manager at AVANZA, Pedro Casero, head of the technical area at FHa, David López, director of electric mobility for companies at Renault Trucks, and Santiago Calleja, manager of LOALCO.
A hands-on workshop was also held explaining the tools to improve urban mobility, with the participation of Juan Ortiz, Manager of CTAZ, José Ignacio Jiménez, CEO of Jiménez Movilidad, Marcos Pastor, General Manager of Disaragon, Pablo de Regollos, from Smart Mobility Iberdrola España, and Fernando Castillo, General Manager of Novaltia, moderated by Sara Sánchez, a researcher at ZLC.
Iberdrola España, leader in mobility
Iberdrola España, which has been leading the energy transition for two decades acting as a key driving force in the transformation of the industrial fabric, the economy and jobs, offers itself as a strategic ally to corporations and companies to help them reduce their carbon footprint.
The company continues to accelerate its mobility transition strategy towards an emissions-free system and its sustainable mobility plan. Pioneered in 2016, it plans to install 100,000 electric chargers by 2025 in homes, businesses and on public roads. Its public infrastructure design is being rolled out on highways and corridors as well as in cities and small towns with the aim of having at least one fast charging station every 50 km or less.
Promoting sustainable innovation
ALIA, the Logistics Cluster of Aragon, is one of the benchmark clusters in logistics and transport at the national level and is at the forefront of promoting sustainable innovation in logistics. ALIA works closely with companies and organisations to accelerate the adoption of innovative practices and technologies that drive sustainability and efficiency in mobility and transport in Aragon.
One of its initiatives includes the launch of the ALIA Mobility Cargo working group, which works on medium-haul, short-haul and last mile transport, both B2B and B2C segments. It also organises the ALIA Living Lab, the benchmark group in sustainable urban mobility, which presents its initiatives at an annual forum. This key meeting point for companies in the last mile supply chain will take place in Zaragoza on 27 November, with the participation of prominent speakers and tech and software companies, as well as warehousing, delivery and parcel businesses.
