Iberdrola España will offer a 50% discount on at-home charging through its Advanced Smart Assistant

  • Until 31 December 2024, customers who sign up for the Advanced Smart Assistant and charge their car at home over the platform will pay half on all their charges for a year.
  • The Advanced Smart Assistant just received the 'Environmental Finance: Company Awards', in the 'Product Innovation of the Year' category

Iberdrola España, in its goal of supporting a more efficient use of energy and reducing its carbon footprint, has launched a promotion for electric vehicles and its Advanced Smart Assistant. Customers who sign up for the Advanced Smart Assistant before 31 December and charge their cars at home over the platform will get a 50% discount off the cost of all charges for a year, savings of 246 euros a year for an average tariff without time zone discrimination over 15,000 km.
Iberdrola España, which already had the best rate on the market for overnight electric vehicle charging, charging 1,000 km for 5 euros, is now intensifying its support for the electrification of mobility, launching this new campaign associated with its Smart Advanced Assistant, to promote efficient energy use.

The Advanced Smart Assistant allows users to control their home's energy consumption and move it to the most economical tariff times. Always adapting to the needs of users, and with the use of artificial intelligence, this technology developed by Iberdrola España facilitates electrification and improves the sustainability of the power system by seeking the times of greatest renewable production for household consumption.

The use of artificial intelligence can combine information from the present, read in real time, and information from the future, through predictions, to plan in the most efficient way possible. In the case of electric vehicles, the kWh needed to reach the kilometre range previously selected by the customer in the Iberdrola España app can be charged at the most convenient times.

For example, if your home has photovoltaic panels and there is no electricity consumption during peak generation hours, the Advanced Smart Assistant will start charging the vehicle until the requested level is reached, which translates into greater savings and sustainability for your household. Similarly, the platform also delays non-urgent energy consumption until the most economically convenient times. The Advanced Smart Assistant also works by improving the efficiency of HVAC systems and other household appliances, thereby reducing their environmental impact and cutting energy bills by up to 30%

Innovation of the year

The Advanced Smart Assistant just received the international ‘Environmental Finance: Company Awards’ in the 'Product Innovation of the Year' category. These awards, given annually by Environmental Finance, seek to recognise companies that stand out for their innovations and progress towards a sustainable future, rewarding achievements that contribute in a significant way to sustainability goals and the global transition to net zero emissions.

The 'Product Innovation of the Year' honours the pioneering approach to creating tangible solutions that actively engage the consumer in the energy transition and that address environmental challenges while demonstrating commercial viability and scalability.

The technological innovation of the Advanced Smart Assistant lies in its ability to use artificial intelligence to proactively optimise energy consumption. The benefits include a significant reduction in energy costs and increased sustainability. While energy management solutions do exist, most do not use advanced artificial intelligence algorithms for real-time optimisation.

Leading the way in zero-emissions mobility

The mobility plan, launched by the company in 2016, was pioneering in its implementation. Today, its strategy envisages the installation of more than 100,000 charging points by 2025, including public charging points, charging points at homes, businesses and in car parks.

Its public infrastructure design is being rolled out on highways and corridors as well as in cities and towns with the objective of having at least one fast charging station every 50 km or less

Iberdrola España is at the forefront of sustainable mobility, with the most extensive public charging network in Spain, which already has more than 7,700 charging points, and more than 45,000 private charging points, including at companies and at homes.
