- Gentalia will add 312 new places that will be distributed among 14 of its centres and shopping parks.
Iberdrola and Gentalia, a Property Management company for shopping centres and retail parks, have signed an agreement to install 312 new charging points for electric vehicles in 14 of the shopping centres and retail parks it manages. This completes the installation of charging points in accordance with the guidelines of Royal Decree 29/2021, which comes into force on 1 January 2023.
In this way, both entities have joined forces to reinforce their commitment to sustainable mobilityExternal link, opens in new window. . Iberdrola will be responsible for providing the equipment, its installation and management.
Most of these charging points will be high-performance devices, with power ratings between 50 and 180 kW, for fast and ultra-fast charging speeds.
Users of these new facilities will charge the battery of their electric cars with 100% green energy, from renewable generation sources, with a guarantee of origin certificate (GdOs) and the charging points will be located on the Iberdrola Public Charging App. This is an application that includes verified information on all electric vehicle chargers, both those of Iberdrola and those of other operators, from which you can geolocate the charger, check its operation in real time, book and pay from your mobile phone.
Thanks to the signing of this agreement, Gentalia will have 484 charging spaces available for electric vehicles, thus complying with the new Royal Decree-Law 29/2021, which establishes the minimum number of electric chargers that car parks must have.
Iberdrola thus continues to make progress in its ambitious electric mobility plan, not only for vehicles but also for passenger transport. As part of its commitment to accelerating sustainable mobility, the company has doubled its public charging network in the last year to more than 4,000 points, with an expansion rate of more than 200 new chargers per month. As a result, the company's charging stations have now reached more than 1,000 different locations in Spain.
For Antonio Armengot, Iberdrola's España Madrid sales representative, "the commitment to vehicle electrification must continue to advance throughout the country for reasons of sustainability, efficiency and economic savings. With agreements like this one, we continue to build an increasingly dense, useful and convenient public charging network for citizens, which will undoubtedly serve to further promote the use of this type of vehicle".
Gonzalo Gómez, general manager of Gentalia: "We are working hand in hand with Iberdrola to progressively install charging points in the car parks of all our centres. Thanks to this, customers will be able to charge their electric vehicles in our facilities and we are contributing to a positive impact on air quality in our cities".
