The CEO of Iberdrola España, Mario Ruiz-Tagle, said today that "Spain is the energy hub of Europe" due to its role as a leader and benchmark in the field of energy transition. The company's CEO made this statement during his speech at the Global Trends 2023 forum, organised by the US Chamber of Commerce (AmChamSpain) in collaboration with the Europa Press news agency.

In the opinion of the CEO of Iberdrola España, the key is understand how to preserve this status and, in this regard, he stated that "Spain must consolidate the situation it is in at the moment, developing renewable energies", although to do so "it needs the support, drive and impetus of society, companies and regulators".

Ruiz-Tagle also recalled that "global geopolitics and the international crisis have highlighted the importance of renewable energies" and pointed out that "connections and pumping must be accelerated; in pumping alone, there would be more than €10 billion in investment and it would help the industrialisation of the country". In the same way, the executive defended the "importance of the digitalisation of the electricity sector, as automation is also fundamental".
