Iberdrola España launches in Vitoria-Gasteiz the first large electric charging station in Alava

  • The charging station has three superfast and two fast charging points that will enable simultaneous charging of up to 10 cars 24 hours a day.
  • Located in the América Latina car park in the Basque capital, they can recharge up to 80% of the vehicle battery in less than five minutes.

Iberdrola España has started up its first large charging station for electric vehicles in Álava. Specifically, in the América Latina car park in Vitoria-Gasteiz. It is also the second of its kind in the Basque Country, after the one inaugurated in December 2022 in Basauri (Bizkaia).

Iberdrola España has been supported by the City Council of the capital city of Álava to promote the renewable installation. The charging station has five electric chargers with a total power of 450 kW and ten charging points that will enable the simultaneous charging of up to 10 cars 24 hours a day.

The charging infrastructure has three dual super-fast 180-kilowatt (kW) chargers, which will allow up to 80% of the vehicle battery to be recharged in less than five minutes, and two dual 22 kW fast chargers.

Users of these facilities will recharge the battery of their electric cars with 100% green energy, from renewable generation sources, with a guarantee of origin certificate (GoO). In addition, the charging points will be located on the Iberdrola España Public Charging App.

Eduardo Lobato, Iberdrola Spain's Commercial Delegate in the Basque Country, said that "Iberdrola Spain is investing heavily in this type of infrastructure to provide coverage for intercity journeys for electric vehicle users. These are innovative facilities, suitable for any type of electric car, which allow batteries to be charged in very short times and which, together with the network of charging points that the company has in operation in the rest of Spain, represent a definitive commitment to the decarbonisation of mobility in our country".

Iberdrola España has more than 310 public access points in the Basque Country owned by the Basque company for users of this type of car to recharge their batteries, and manages a further 97 additional recharging points for public use and shared ownership.

It should be noted that users of these facilities will recharge the battery of their electric cars with 100% green energy, from renewable generation sources, with a guarantee of origin certificate (GoO) and the charging points will be located in the Iberdrola España Public Charging App, from which you can geolocate the charger, check its operation in real time and book and pay from your mobile phone.
