Iberdrola España is committed to innovation and sustainability at Startup Olé Salamanca
- It is once again the world's leading technology entrepreneurship event that has brought together over 40,000 attendees from 120 countries; 1,500 startups, scaleups and spin-offs; 1,200 speakers; 300 corporations and investors with an investment portfolio of more than €100bn.
- PERSEO is one of Iberdrola España's driving forces in innovation, and is complemented by other initiatives that led the company to invest €10 million last year alone.
Iberdrola España has reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, sustainability, digital transformation and entrepreneurship at the Startup Olé Salamanca, a major global event for technological entrepreneurship.
The Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Héctor Gómez, and the CEO and founder of Startup Olé, Emilio Corchado, visited this morning, accompanied by the Iberdrola España delegate in Castile and León, Miguel Calvo, and the head of Perseo - Iberdrola's Open Innovation and Investment Programme with Startups -, Óscar Cantalejo, the innovation space set up by the company at Startup Olé, one of the most important international events in the entrepreneurial ecosystem being held this week in the capital of Salamanca.
Iberdrola España's delegate in Castile and León wanted to highlight the company's commitment to entrepreneurs: "We have been investing and working with start-ups for more than 15 years to promote a more sustainable and forward-looking industry around the energy transition, generating quality employment and progress. This collaboration with emerging companies is key to continue accelerating the decarbonisation and electrification of the economy and also allows us to support Iberdrola’s growth with agile and dynamic technology partners”.
Iberdrola España, which for yet another year has become one of the main promoters of Startup Olé through its Energy Transition vertical, has shown in Salamanca its commitment to entrepreneurship and innovation and reaffirms its commitment to digital transformation and sustainability and its collaboration with the University of Salamanca, in which it actively promotes the promotion of University-Business technology transfer, in a close alliance for the launch of R&D&I projects and training initiatives in areas of common interest.
More than 15 years of innovation
The Iberdrola Group, of which Iberdrola España forms part, has been innovating in the energy sector for more than 15 years through its start-up programme, PERSEO, which has allocated more than €125 million to support the best entrepreneurs and industrial businesses worldwide that contribute to accelerating the decarbonisation and electrification of the economy.
The programme's ecosystem includes more than 7,500 start-ups, including unicorns - companies valued at more than $1 billion.
