More than 400 i-DE employees take stock in the Basque Country, Navarre and La Rioja of their achievements and new challenges arising from the energy transition

  • The director of i-DE in the Northern Region, Javier Arriola, chaired the conference together with the heads of the Network Business in the BAC, Navarre and La Rioja.
  • Grids are the backbone of the new energy model and the path to the transition towards a green economy, allowing the integration of more renewables, sustainable mobility and electric vehicles, the electrification of industry, smart cities and self-consumption, which is why investment in grids must be more ambitious if the objectives set out in the decarbonisation 'roadmap' are to be achieved.

i-DE meeting in the Basque Country

i-DE, Iberdrola España's distribution company, held the 18th edition of its Networks business meeting, bringing together nearly 400 employees in the Basque Country - 280 -, Navarre - 70 - and La Rioja - 50 - with a resounding success in terms of participation.

This new edition served to highlight and take stock of the activity carried out during the first nine months of the year, in which the company has recorded excellent service quality and customer service indices.

In each province of the Northern Region, the management shared the analysis of the current context, the opportunities and challenges arising from the energy transition that we face: self-consumption, energy communities, electrification of industry, batteries or data processing centres, as well as the main new developments that are being worked on, such as the Cybersecurity Master Plan.

The director of i-DE in the Northern Region, Javier Arriola, chaired this conference together with the heads of the Networks business in the provinces of Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, Araba, Navarre and La Rioja, urging them to reinforce the safety of people in order to minimise electrical risk and guarantee the protection and care of the environment.

The pillars of the Networks business in Spain, they explained, are also the customer, efficiency and growth, based on innovation and, especially, on people. "We have the responsibility to advance the digitalisation and development of electricity grids, to ensure our role as facilitator of the energy transition and thus guarantee the decarbonisation objectives that have been set. The grid must be ready to support the electrification of demand and the integration of renewable energies", stressed i-DE's director for the Northern Region.

i-DE continues to focus all its efforts on putting the customer at the centre of its operations and has launched a project to improve the process of new supplies in order to be proactive and meet the expectations of its customers.
