Iberdrola España, promotes two solar communities in Huesca with Avanza and Aramovil
- The mayor of the town, Lorena Orduna, has visited the photovoltaic plants that are located on two roofs of the transport company's warehouses located in the Martínez de Velasco industrial estate
This infrastructure will allow 190 families in the area to enjoy the advantages of self-consumption without the need for their own installation or investment
Visit to the facilities of the Iberdrola sales representative in Aragón, Luis Artigas; the Institutional Delegate of Iberdrola in Aragón, Alfredo del Tiempo; from the mayor of Huesca, Lorena Orduna; y of representatives from other companies.
Iberdrola España, Avanza and Aramovil are promoting the installation of two solar communities in Huesca on the roofs of their installations located in the Martínez de Velasco industrial estate, which will allow residents to enjoy the advantages of renewable self-consumption without having to have their own installation or make any kind of investment, as Iberdrola España is the one carrying it out.
The Mayor of Huesca, Lorena Orduna, visited the facilities this morning, accompanied by representatives of the different companies collaborating in the project, to learn about the details of this innovative initiative.
This form of community self-consumption allows users to access 100% renewable energy generated from the roofs of the buildings, where 270 photovoltaic panels will be installed with a total power of approximately 125 kilowatts (kW), enough to produce more than 167 MWh annually. These photovoltaic installations will prevent the emission of around 930 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere over the next 30 years.
Thanks to these solar communities, some 190 residents within a radius of approximately two kilometres will be able to subscribe to them and save on their electricity bills by consuming part of the energy produced by this installation locally. For their part, the tenants of the warehouses will be able to cover up to 15% of their electricity consumption.
Luis Artigas, Iberdrola España's Commercial Delegate in Aragon, emphasises that this project, the first that the company has agreed in Huesca, "allows us to continue advancing in the supply of zero-kilometre renewable energy, produced in the neighbourhood itself, to be consumed by the residents, with an innovative solution that will help local families to promote sustainability by saving on their bills".
José Ramón Lasierra, Director of the Northern Division of Avanza Movilidad Integral, emphasises that this project highlights the company's commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency, helping to reduce the environmental impact of our activity.
Pablo Martín-Retortillo, CEO of Grupo La Oscense, to which Aramovil belongs, emphasises that the company thus complements its self-consumption installations at its Zaragoza headquarters, which total more than 136 kW, and at its Huesca headquarters, with 72 KW, in its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint, as well as to promote the electrification of mobility by placing its resources at the service of solar energy production.

Promotion of self-consumption
In addition, as a result of its commitment to self-consumption, Iberdrola España has improved the remuneration of its customers' surpluses and thanks to innovation in energy products, self-consumers with Iberdrola España plans can value their surpluses beyond the energy term, making it possible to have a bill of zero euros and now also benefit from the value of the surpluses in another home of the same owner.
Iberdrola España leads the photovoltaic self-consumption market in Spain, managing 40% of the country's self-consumption customers. As part of its commitment to accelerating the energy transition and developing new products to improve efficiency and energy savings, in 2015 the company became the first company in its sector to integrate self-consumption solutions into its range of services.
The company has consolidated its position as the benchmark company with a 150% increase in its self-consumption portfolio so far this year. Through Smart Solar Enlace externo, se abre en ventana nueva., Iberdrola España offers services for all types of customers, from domestic consumers to large industrial customers.
The collective self-consumption solutions developed by Iberdrola España have made self-consumption available to any customer, whether or not they have their own roof. Customers in this segment also benefit from the Solar Plan Enlace externo, se abre en ventana nueva., a competitive electricity tariff during the hours when there is no sun, which is when they need to consume energy from the grid, as during the day they self-supply from their own installation.
Self-consumption solar systems can save 30% on annual bills in the case of residents' associations; 50% for companies and businesses; and up to 70% in single-family homes. These savings are produced in three ways: the energy produced by the installation that the user does not have to buy, compensation for the surplus energy not consumed that is fed into the grid, and savings due to lower taxes.
