Iberdrola España en Navidad

Iberdrola España wanted to pay tribute to the rural world and be part of this Christmas initiative carried out by the Damajuanas Women's Association of the Salamanca town of Fuenteguinaldo, which has built a sustainable Nativity Scene, made with 100% recycled materials and including several nods to renewable energies.

The electricity company already lit the Christmas tree of the 'Damajuanas' in 2022, who contacted through Facebook, made with recycled milk cartons and this year Iberdrola wanted to support this original proposal in which these women have been working since February in the collection of all kinds of materials, from the capsules of the first vaccines against COVID-19 or antigen swabs.

Damajuanas

It is a very special Nativity Scene, different from the thousands of Nativity Scenes that are placed in all the towns of Spain, in addition to recycled materials, the Damajuanas have wanted to give it a different air, including elements of the XXI century such as renewable energies. It has solar panels that give light to the houses, models of wind turbines and even batteries to operate self-sufficiently.

Volunteers from Iberdrola Spain have done their bit and have collaborated with the finishing touches so that everything was ready at the time of the lighting, but the spark of Christmas has been put by the brigade of i-DE, the distributor of Iberdrola Spain, of Ciudad Rodrigo.

The mayoress of Fuenteguinaldo, Lourdes Palos, the deputy of the region of Ciudad Rodrigo in the Diputación de Salamanca, Gerardo Marcos, and the head of Institutional Relations of Iberdrola Spain in Castilla y León, Ignacio Antolín, did not want to miss the act of lighting the Bethlehem that has been wrapped by the singing of Christmas carols and the offer to all present of a chocolate with churros.

Christmas is light, so the i-DE team wanted to be part of this initiative without whose work it would not be possible to have light in these special dates, they are responsible for taking care of the good condition of power lines and ensure the power supply 365 days a year, no matter the time, the day of the week and often under the most adverse weather conditions. In difficult times, it is necessary to respond with extraordinary actions: to ensure the power supply and bring the best energy to homes.

Sustainable lighting

Fuenteguinaldo now looks brighter and more sustainable with an original Nativity Scene of these determined women with which they display a message that is especially necessary at times when the consumption of packaging increases significantly.

The lighting of the Nativity Scene to the sound of Christmas carols kicks off the Christmas season where hundreds of visitors will travel to enjoy these days with their families.

Iberdrola España brings the magic of light to every corner because Christmas illuminates everyone, not just the big cities.
