300 native species trees have been planted during this day, which will benefit the environment.
Almost a hundred students from the San Calixto School in Plasencia took part in an environmental education day organised by Iberdrola España, collaborating with the Plantabosques (‘Plantforests’, in english) volunteer project coordinated by the Adenex association and the Regional Government of Extremadura, in Ceclavín (Cáceres).
Specifically, the aim of these activities is to raise awareness among young people of the importance of caring for and respecting the natural environment, for which, in addition to talks, a reforestation activity of 300 trees has been carried out in the surroundings of the Ceclavín photovoltaic plant.
This action is part of the Convive Programme, developed by Iberdrola España, which was created with the aim of seeking coexistence between renewable energies and their contribution to socioeconomic development and the conservation of biodiversity. In this case, it has been carried out in collaboration with experts in the care and protection of nature from Adenex.
Iberdrola España commissioned the Ceclavín photovoltaic plant in 2021, with an installed capacity of 328 megawatts and capable of supplying 175,000 homes per year with renewable energy – avoiding the annual emission of 110,000 tonnes of CO2.
For Helga García-Monge, Head of Operations and Maintenance in Extremadura for Iberdrola Renovables, "today's activity has served to raise awareness and educate in the fight against climate change, but also to promote the protection of nature with the role of renewable energies in decarbonising the planet and making them coexist with their environment".
In this environment, Iberdrola España, together with Adenex, planted 600 trees; 300 of them planted today. The Environmental Education Day held today was used as an opportunity to review the roots of this plantation in the ground.
