Iberdrola España and Fundación Mutualidad sign a collaboration agreement to promote the training of lawyers in favor of the most vulnerable

Iberdrola España has signed, through its Legal and Tax Services, a collaboration agreement with Fundación Mutualidad that will contribute to the training of the legal profession in favor of vulnerable people, as well as to help young people to approach the legal profession.

The signing, which took place at the Iberdrola Tower in Bilbao, was attended by Santiago Martínez Garrido, General Secretary and Secretary of the Board of Iberdrola España, and Blanca Narváez Vega de Seoane, General Director of Fundación Mutualidad. In addition, among the attendees were Idoia Basterrechea, member of the Governing Board of Mutualidad, lawyers and tax experts from Iberdrola España and the dean of the Bar Association of Bizkaia, Maite Morillo, accompanied by Eduardo Maeso and Gorka Beristain, manager of the ICAB and its director of Legal Practice.

Also in this framework, both entities are committed to focus also on the promotion of skills and career guidance of young students of the Master of Access to the Bar and Procura in collaboration with the ICA Bizkaia.

In the words of the general secretary of Iberdrola España, “this agreement will serve to contribute to the training of the legal profession as well as to encourage young people to develop their professional practice in a rigorous manner, which will undoubtedly help these activities to reach those who need them most”.

For the president of Fundación Mutualidad, Enrique Sanz Fernández-Lomana, this alliance represents the union of two entities that are committed to contributing to the growth of the sector, seeking a social impact that will benefit other groups in vulnerable situations. For her part, the CEO of the Foundation has pointed out: “the importance of alliances to achieve a greater social impact, aligned with the Foundation's purpose of developing an ecosystem of caring and generous people and companies.”

The Dean of the Bar Association of Bizkaia stressed the importance of this collaboration “for the training of the lawyers of the future, with a view to the present and the generation of new professional opportunities”.

An agreement that reaches the youngest

Among the pillars of this collaboration is the creation of a Legal Campus, which will serve to train the youngest students of the Master's Degree in Access to the Legal Profession in Bilbao in order to help them focus on the legal practice and will also create skills for them to have experience in interviews, collaborating with different law firms and helping them to understand the best way to practice.

This agreement will also help develop the “Sumar y Escalar” program, which will train self-employed and in-court lawyers in the legal field focused on homelessness. In addition, legal needs will be identified and training will be designed and delivered to the collective, including resources available, as well as legal guidance services to the Bar Associations. This will help to develop an ecosystem between lawyers and social entities for the solution of problems towards the collective they represent. Likewise, explanatory and training booklets will be created for social entities in the approach and access to these legal resources.
