The company simplifies the customer experience at its electric vehicle charging network by offering a new payment method without having to register with its app.
Iberdrola España has begun rolling out card payment for its entire public charging network. The company, which is making a gradual transition and has already incorporated this modality in 40% of its more than 8,000 chargers, will complete reconfiguration throughout its network before next summer.
This way, Iberdrola España is making it easier for people to use its charging points, all of which use 100% green energy from renewable sources with a guarantee of origin certificate. This step is yet another of the company's efforts to promote electric mobility, the only emissions-free option which, in addition, enables progress to be made in energy independence.
Users of Iberdrola España's network can top up over the Iberdrola public charging app. The best rated in the industry, this application offers a simple registration process and different features, such as the real chargers’ time status, charger reservation or route planning by obtaining information on the chargers they need to stop at during the planned trip.
The company is currently in the process of adding card payment, which can be made with two types of solutions. The company is installing a physical terminal at higher power chargers that the customer can use like any other payment terminal and, at lower power chargers, payment can be made over a web page that the customer opens with a QR code.
In both cases, like when making payment over the app, users can request a simplified invoice if required. In addition, if customers have any questions during the process, they can call the customer service hotline, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The most extensive network in Spain
With more than 8,000 operational points, Iberdrola España's public charging network is the most extensive in Spain. Its public infrastructure design has been deployed on highways and major corridors and in cities and small towns with the goal of having at least one fast charging station every 50 km or less.
The mobility plan launched by the company in 2016 was pioneering in its implementation. Today, its strategy envisages the installation of more than 100,000 charging points by 2025, including public, residential, company and car park charging points.
The company also has 45,000 private charging points, between its network of company and residential chargers, where Iberdrola España has the most competitive rate in the industry, so you can travel 1,000 km for €5.
