Iberdrola España joins the project leading the creation of a data centre in the Basque Country

  • The project, which will be in Gipuzkoa, will provide the area with the necessary infrastructure to develop the technological and digital transition in a sustainable and local way.

Iberdrola España has become a shareholder of ADI Data Center Euskadi, a company created to support the digital transformation of companies and institutions in the Basque Country and which is leading the creation of a new data centre in the region. This project has the backing of leading partners, including the Basque Government, Teknei, Dominion, Euskaltel, Gertek, Kutxabank, Mondragon and the provincial councils of Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa.

The Garaia Technology Park, in Arrasate-Mondragón, Gipuzkoa, was the location chosen to build this top-level data centre. The project’s main objective is to ensure that Basque companies and institutions can access advanced technologies to adopt solutions like the cloud, AI, IoT and other digital tools all with the maximum security guarantees.

ADI Data Center Euskadi aspires to lead the technological-digital transition in the Basque Country, underlining the importance of managing and protecting strategic data at the local level. Its first infrastructure, located on the Abanto campus of the Bizkaia Technology Park, has a capacity of 2 MW and is scheduled to be operational in the first quarter of 2025.
