This partnership reinforces both companies’ commitment to environmental sustainability, offering viewers the possibility of watching movies with the best technology in a greener setting

Cinesa, Spain's leading movie exhibition company, reinforces its commitment to the environment by joining forces with Iberdrola España to supply renewable energy to all its cinemas. This agreement will enable the company's 35 cinemas in 11 autonomous autonomous communities, to operate with 100% renewable electricity, which will prevent the emission of 10,089 tons of CO2 over the next three years, the equivalent of what could be absorbed by a forest with 1,008,900 trees.
The agreement extends to the big screen the environmental benefits of the 'Iberdrola Green Theaters' initiative under which Iberdrola España already provides green energy to 16 emblematic theaters in Madrid, consolidating its commitment to decarbonisation and sustainable entertainment.
Elisa Yarte, Head of Branding, Advertising, Media and Sponsorship at Iberdrola España, says: “Cinesa is a natural partner in our mission to integrate sustainability into all areas of everyday life. We believe we can really make a substantial impact by working together and continue to immerse ourselves in the world of culture. We hope moviegoers will share our enthusiasm for the social and environmental value that these cinemas, which from today will only consume 100% renewable energy, can add.”
Ramón Biarnés, Managing Director Southerns Europe & Northern Europe at ODEON Cinemas Group, represented in Spain by Cinesa, added that: “The world of culture has never been oblivious to the efforts to build a better planet. We and the vast majority of our customers are aware of the urgency of decarbonising the planet, which is why we are determined to make the most of this partnership with Iberdrola. The use of renewable energies in our cinemas is great news that adds excellence to the experience that for years we have been offering in our cinemas”.
As part of this collaboration between the two companies, some of the Cinesa cinemas will have their own Iberdrola auditorium, which will exemplify the collaboration between the two companies with special branding. The first of these is already operational at Cinesa Las Rozas in Madrid.
