Iberdrola España and Renault Group join forces to drive electric vehicle accessibility in Spain
- Renault Group, in partnership with Iberdrola España, is the first manufacturer to launch the energy savings certificate in Spain to make access to electric mobility cheaper
- With this agreement, drivers who replace a combustion-engined vehicle with a Renault Group electric vehicle can benefit from €800 in direct savings at the time of purchase at the dealership
- This immediate bonus is compatible with any type of public aid at the state, regional or local level for the purchase of an electric vehicle
- Both companies are working to democratise electric vehicles in Spain and to decarbonise mobility through electrification

Iberdrola España and Renault Group have reached an agreement to make electric vehicles more accessible to people. This partnership involves an €800 discount on the purchase of an electric vehicle from any of the Renault Group brands (Renault, Dacia and Alpine). Renault Group customers who replace a combustion vehicle (running on petrol, diesel, hybrid or LPG) with an electric vehicle will receive an additional discount directly at the time of purchase. This immediate rebate is compatible with any type of public aid at the state, regional or local level for the purchase of an electric vehicle.
With this agreement, the companies aim to promote electric vehicles in Spain and reduce dependence on fossil fuels to advance energy independence and electrification and the decarbonisation of mobility, currently responsible for a third of all emissions.
The change from a combustion vehicle to an electric vehicle brings with it energy savings that are associated with an energy savings certificate that Iberdrola España manages and processes so that Renault Group customers can get a direct discount off the price of the vehicle. To obtain the discount, the customer must prove at the dealership that they are replacing a combustion vehicle with an electric vehicle.
‘Our goal is to help our customers in their transition to electrification. While it is true that the prices of electric vehicles are becoming increasingly competitive and that if we evaluate their entire lifespan they are already the most advantageous option economically, we are aware that there is still a barrier to entry. We hope that the direct discount of €800 that we are providing together with the Renault Group will act as a further incentive to move towards a new democratised mobility’, says Luis Buil, Director of Smart Solutions at Iberdrola España.
‘This agreement allows us to use the mechanisms at our disposal to advance electrification. Renault was the first manufacturer to offer this system, which we have been applying since the beginning of February, and it is crucial that companies like Renault Group and Iberdrola España join forces to encourage everyone to embrace sustainable mobility,’ says Sebastien Guigues, General Manager of the Renault and Alpine brands in Iberia.
For Laurent Sengenes, CEO of the Dacia brand, ‘Dacia has the most affordable electric vehicle. With this move, we are further advancing the democratisation of electric mobility’.
