Iberdrola España participates in a meeting with Basque companies to analyse the future of electrification in the Basque Country

Iberdrola España participated in a business meeting organised by the Association for Progress in Management and the Provincial Council of Alava in Vitoria-Gasteiz focusing on the energy future of the Basque Country under the slogan "The journey to decarbonisation in the company: there’s no turning back". The coming decades will mark the future of energy in Europe with the multiple changes arising from decarbonisation and the massive electrification of demand. Some of the most important sectors in the Basque Country, such as industry, will have to move towards electrification in the fight against climate change. An orderly energy transition will offer opportunities for growth and lasting benefits.
At the meeting, which was attended by Julio Castro, CEO of Iberdrola Energía Sostenible España, Iberdrola España's parent company, some conclusions were reached, such as the need to initiate a constructive dialogue on nuclear energy and the fact that the Basque Country, as an industrial power, will need green energy to decarbonise, electrify and promote the development of PPAs (long-term power agreements).
