Iberdrola España joins the 3rd year of United Nations Global Compact's Sustainable Suppliers Training Programme to continue promoting sustainability among its suppliers in Spain. The company promotes sustainability training for Spanish SME suppliers in this year’s programme.

The programme is promoted by the UN Global Compact Spain together with the ICO Foundation and ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones, with Iberdrola España and 47 other large Spanish companies that are members of the UN Global Compact Spain participating as promoters. The initiative aims to train supply chains in sustainability under the framework of the Ten Principles of the Global Compact (human rights, labour standards, environment and anti-corruption) and the 2030 Agenda.

Iberdrola España has renewed its collaboration with the UN Global Compact in Spain, promoting its suppliers’ sustainability. For five months, supplier SMEs benefiting from the programme will be able to access online courses, live recorded sessions, practical guidelines, templates for drafting policies and codes and case studies from other companies. Once all modules of the programme have been completed, SMEs will receive a participation and achievement certificate.

Commitment to suppliers in Spain

The company has been promoting environmental and social sustainability and governance for years with defined commitments. Iberdrola España's supplier must first accept the supplier's Code of Conduct to enter into a business relationship with the company. This includes principles of action and clauses on respect for human rights, equal opportunities, inclusion and diversity, occupational hazard prevention and safety, anti-fraud and corruption measures, and respect for the environment.

Iberdrola España seeks supplies and suppliers that, in addition to being sustainable, are transparent, solvent, fair, ethical, and technically competitive. For this reason, the supplier is evaluated during the purchasing process to ascertain potential risk. We verify that their operations are in line with the group's policies, principles and responsibilities.

Iberdrola España also has a programme called Initiatives for SMEs in Spain in which it reports on the actions it carries out to strengthen the level of sustainability of the small and medium-sized companies with which it works.
