Iberdrola España joins forces with AEDIVE to promote electric and sustainable mobility in Spain

What is the Madrid Electric Vehicle Fair?

The VEM is a zero-emission vehicle exhibition and test fair that aims to bring electric mobility in Spain closer to both individuals and professionals. Its aim is that attendees can not only find out about the range of products and services on offer in the sector, but also try them out, as this is what will give them the definitive impetus to join electric mobility. 

The fair, which this year celebrates its ninth edition, is organised together with the Madrid City Council and dozens of companies that will be exhibiting their electric vehicles, charging points and shared and energy services from 13 to 15 September in the Plaza de Colón.

Who is AEDIVE?

The Business Association for the Development and Promotion of Electric Mobility (AEDIVE) is a group that includes all the companies that form part of the electric vehicle value chain. Its objective is to face the challenges and opportunities arising from the implementation of this type of vehicle. By generating synergies among its associate members, accelerating business development, promoting competitiveness among companies and through public-private agreements, AEDIVE promotes the development of the electric mobility market by creating a solid and stable framework for its implementation. Iberdrola España is currently a member of its board of directors.

Sustainable mobility and the energy transition in Spain

In Spain, transport accounts for a quarter of total CO₂ emissions. Of this quarter, 95% comes from road transport. Therefore, at Iberdrola España, it is clear to us that the energy transition involves a commitment to zero-emission mobility, and it is along these lines that our presence at events such as VEM 2024 is framed - events which are essential to facilitate this transition towards sustainable mobility . 

Electric trucks: Sustainable mobility in heavy goods transport

With the aim of accelerating the electrification of heavy goods transport, Iberdrola España has also signed an agreement with AEDIVE this year. This is a sector that is essential for trade flows, but is responsible for 25% of the pollution produced by road transport in the European Union despite representing only 1% of the total vehicle fleet. 

As part of the value chain of these vehicles, and aware of the urgency of decarbonising them, at Iberdrola España we have decided to join forces so that the electrification of heavy road transport soon becomes a reality.
